FEC Appoints Four New Members to the Board

Oakville, ON JULY 27, 2017 – The Family Enterprise Canada (FEC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Murray Flanagan, Brian A. Henley, Kevin Ladner, and Susan St. Amand to the FEC Board of Directors.

Taylor, Chair, FEX. “We welcome their input to the ongoing growth and development of the organization, bringing significant experience to the role and complementing our existing Board members.”

Most recently as Senior Vice President and CFO of Flanagan Foodservice, Inc.; a successful family enterprise located in Ontario, Mr. Flanagan has served his extensive 25 plus year career with a broad range of responsibilities. He currently participates as an advisor to the Board of Directors for Flanagan Foodservice, Inc., and with Junior Achievement, where he holds the position of Chair of the Board.

Mr. Henley, a certified Family Enterprise Advisor, comes to the FEC Board with years of experience as President and CEO of Alec G. Henley Group; a family owned and operated independent employee benefit and financial advisory consulting firm based in Newfoundland and Labrador, past Director of the Bank of Canada, past Chair and member of CALU, past Director of the Financial Advisors Association of Canada, member of the Board of Directors of the Advocis Protective Association, and Chair of the Financial Committee.

Mr. Ladner is the current Executive Partner & Chief Executive Officer of Grant Thornton LLP; a leading accounting, tax, and advisory firm, and has more than 30 years of experience in helping family enterprises across Canada thrive.

Ms. St. Amand, a certified Family Enterprise Advisor, is the Founder and President of Sirius Financial Services, specializing in continuity planning for families with wealth in the Ottawa region. Susan is Co-Chair of the Institute of Corporate Directors Ottawa Chapter, past Chair of STEP Ottawa, Vice-Chair of the Ottawa Community Foundation, a member of ADVOCIS, and past Chair and member of CALU. Her strong technical skills and expert knowledge of governance make her a welcome asset to the board.

These four new members will join the current FEC Board consisting of: Allen S. Taylor, Chair, Jim Burton, Dave Chucko, Margaret-Jean Mannix, Bill Sheffield, and Lenore Van Oene in providing strong oversight and direction to the organization as it continues to grow and expand nationally.
