The FEX Edmonton Family Enterprise Program is a half-day, interactive, learning opportunity for families and their trusted advisors. We will  feature 6 subject matter experts who will present their insights into the journey of a local Family Enterprise. Hear first hand as they share trends, best practises, issues and solutions to support the success of your family and business!

This event will offer a deeper dive into the relational challenges and structural issues that all family businesses face. Based on the real-life experience of a local multi-generational family business, our panel of experts will explore and address common pitfalls that impede transitions within the business and family. The morning will provide a unique opportunity to:

• Meet, network, and share experience with like minded families and advisors
• Identify the critical parts of succession planning and the impact on your family business
• Develop tools and processes to promote successful transitions
• Grow and preserve the wealth of your clients and families

K. John Fuller, CPA, CA, TEP, FEA | Barrister and Solicitor

John is a partner of the Edmonton office of Felesky Flynn LLP, a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), a FAMILY ENTERPRISE ADVISOR ™ (FEA) certificant and is an elected member of the board of directors of CPA Alberta. John has over 20 years of tax planning experience and Canada Revenue Agency dispute resolution experience and has worked in locations around Alberta including Calgary, Grande Prairie and Edmonton. John’s focus is on corporate tax and personal tax, estate and sale planning for private corporations and their shareholders, including farm tax matters.

John has published articles for and/or presented to various groups including the Canadian Bar Association, CPA Alberta, Canadian Tax Foundation and the CPA clubs of Edmonton, Calgary and Grande Prairie.

Shabir Ladha, CPA, CA, FEA | Partner
Shabir is a partner with the Edmonton branch of KBH Chartered Accountants. He has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Victoria, has obtained a CPA designation, and is a FAMILY ENTERPRISE ADVISOR ™ certificant. Shabir’s specialty is working with family and privately owned businesses. He also has specialized knowledge of clients working in manufacturing industries, restaurants and medical/dental professionals, as well as with condominium audits.

For a number of years he was a director and treasurer for Youth Empowerment Support Services (YESS) in Edmonton and AIESEC Canada. 

Salvatore N. Corea, BA, CFP, TEP, FEA
Sal is a partner at Sorrell Financial and has been working with Business Families, professionals, and executives and their team of advisors in developing insurance and estate plans for over 20- years. While working with his clients, Sal assists them with Succession, Estate Equalization and Enhancement Strategies, and in mitigating and managing their Risk Portfolio. Sal is a Certified Financial Planner, Trust and Estate Practitioner, and FAMILY ENTERPRISE ADVISOR™ certificant. Sal obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Alberta majoring in Economics. He is a Member of the Business Family Foundation (BFF), Conference of Advanced Life Underwriters (CALU), Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), and Alberta Business Family Institute (ABFI). Sal is also a Director of the Mark Mercier Foundation, a member of the Friars’ Executive, and The NorQuest Campaign Cabinet.

Gregg K Becker, BSc, MBA, ICD.D
Gregg Becker is the President of Predictable Futures Inc., a boutique consulting partnership focused on advising family enterprises going through transition. Specific areas of focus are on succession planning, governance and operational excellence through generational transitions.

He has worked with companies across Western Canada for the past 25 years, specializing in small to medium sized private enterprises including Jayman Masterbuilt, Overhead Door, and Trader Corporation, spanning sectors including manufacturing, broadcasting, professional services, construction, telecommunications and health care. He is a certified member of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) in Canada, and has helped many organizations set up new boards, and strengthen their board function. Mr. Becker currently sits on several boards (for profit and non-profit), serving as Chair, board and committee member. 

Myron Uhryn, MBA & Christoff Boshoff, MBA, CIWM
Christoff and Myron are both Senior Financial Advisors with ATB Securities Inc. where they specialize in advising business owners with wealth management. Christoff has an MBA from the University of Western Ontario Ivey School of Business and Myron has an MBA from the University of Alberta School of Business. Myron is currently pursuing FAMILY ENTERPRISE ADVISOR ™ (FEA) certification. They have earned their stripes in a number of diverse and private businesses throughout the years, including: derivatives trading, technology commercialization, real estate, wireless internet, grain, and cattle farming, horse boarding and tree farming. Christoff and Myron understand first-hand the intensity, challenges, and dynamics that enterprising families face. Passionate about lifelong learning, they are continuously pursuing opportunities to stay current on family business issues in order to help their clients achieve success.
